Project - The Shant

The Shant is a grade II listed building which attracted grant aid for repairs under the Natural England Higher Level Stewardship scheme.

We liaised with the local planning authority to secure Listed Building Consent because not all the works were like for like repairs, for instance we introduced an insulated limecrete floor slab under a traditional flag stone floor as well as using a French drain and porous finishes such as haired lime plaster to mitigate raised moisture levels.

We produced contract documents and market tested the works with formal tenders.  Then, acting as contract administrators, we worked with the contractor, client and grant body to ensure the works were achieved with absolute quality, cost control and on time.

Our role: To produce a conservation management plan that elementally assessed the significance condition of the building.

Client: Private client

Location: Ormskirk, Lancashire.
